Cllr Janet Grauberg and I joined Streets Kitchen on a Saturday morning in January to understand more about their mobile kitchen service. Streets Kitchen run this service across London, and we joined their Camden group. Starting out by Camden Overground station at 7am, the team arrived with trolleys of hot drinks and breakfast items to distribute.

We walked from there to Tottenham Court Road, stopping along the way to talk to some people who the team knew well, as well as some people new to the area, or to homelessness.

The staff and regular volunteers leading our group greeted many of the people we met with familiarity, giving out additional items like socks, tents, scarves and underwear where needed.

Streets Kitchen are a great team with excellent service dedication.

The question I left with was around how we can help the people we met off the street and into a place of warmth and safety. This is something very much in the minds of our residents both in Camden and across London.
