Cllr Nancy Jirira

Nancy was elected to serve the residents of Fortune Green in July 2021, after long-standing Liberal Democrat Councillor Flick Rea stood down. She was also previously a councillor for Fortune Green between 2008 and 2014.

Nancy knows that crime and anti-social behaviour is a concern for many residents, and has been working with Camden officers and the Safer Neighbourhood Panel to make Fortune Green safer, including pushing for more CCTV and police patrols in crime hotspots.

One of Nancy’s top priorities is helping council tenants with housing repairs. She says “every week I hear from people who’ve been waiting months, even years, for vital repairs to their homes. So many elderly and vulnerable residents have been let down by Camden’s Labour Council. I want to continue standing up for them".

Nancy has been a Fortune Green resident since the mid-1970s and has cared for local people as an NHS community nurse for decades. She says “I am proud to work for the NHS and, when I was fighting Covid, the NHS saved my life. I am truly grateful for what the NHS did for me and will always fight for its future.”
