James Bowen
James “Jim” Bowen has lived in the Belsize Park/Gospel Oak area for most of his life. He was educated locally, worked in retail, as a delivery driver, and for the Post Office before training as a Science teacher. He taught in Stoke Newington before teaching on the South Coast, where he lived before getting his MBA and Doctorate in America, and then teaching in China.
Jim returned to London in 2018, and managed the same stores he’d worked in as a teenager. He also taught in Finchley, and worked as a lecturer for Bath Spa University, supporting the next generation of teachers as they entered the profession.
Jim has been active in politics since he was 13, and was a founder member of the Liberal Democrats. He has delivered leaflets and canvassed voters all over the country, believing that the job of activists is to listen to residents, find local issues that need fixing, and ensure that progress is made on them. Whilst aware it won’t be easy, and that few things can be fixed overnight, Jim will be dedicated to fixing the issues faced by Gospel Oak residents if elected as your councillor.
