St Pancras and Somers TownFred Carver
Fred Carver was elected as a councillor for Cantelowes ward in May 2006 aged 21. He moved to Camden almost eight years ago to study Mathematics at UCL and has lived in and around the Borough ever since. Since graduating in summer 2006 he has worked for various liberal causes in and around Westminster, commuting on the number 24 bus. Fred has worked as a field archaeologist, crew on a diving boat, postman, catering staff on a tall ship and as a mentor for troubled children. He also enjoys literature, rugby and music. He has travelled extensively, most adventurously across Russia from St Petersburg to Vladivostok by third class train when he was 18. He used to play the bagpipes but to the relief of all he has now stopped. Fred joined the Liberal Democrats because of the party's commitment to tackling inequality. Dave Hoefling
Dave has been a resident of Somerstown for 67 years and is well known within the local community. He has been an active campaigner on many issues of concern to local residents over the years and has participated in many local groups including the Kings Cross Partnership and the St Pancras Housing Tenants Association. Abdus Shaheed
Shaheed was born in Sylhet, Bangladesh. His qualification is Bachelor of Commerce from Moulvibazar College, University of Chittagong. He worked as a Union Bhumi officer [land and revenue] in Bangladesh 1986-1993. Shaheed also studied in Westminster and Kingsway College. Shaheed came to the UK in 1993. He has lived with his family in Camden nearly seventeen years and has three boys and one daughter. He has been an elected member of Godwin and Crowndale tenant management co-operative since 1998. He is a former parent governor of Richard Cobden Primary School and worked as a parent governor representative on scrutiny and commission. Shaheed is a foundation trust member of Great Ormond Street Hospital as well as a member of University College Hospital. He is also involved with Camden LINK. Shaheed has a long experience undertaking community work. He is a former culture and education secretary of Al Rahman Mosque and community centre. His aim is to work for the local people. He likes reading. He is standing as a councillor for the first time in St Pancras and Somers Town ward.
