Local campaigners Rahel Bokth, Matt Sanders and Jill Fraser won yesterday's deferred election of councillors for Haverstock ward, confirming Liberal Democrats as the main opposition party on Camden Council with a total of 13 councillors.

The full result was:

Jill Fraser, Lib Dem 1462

Matt Sanders, Lib Dem 1326

Rahel Bokth, Lib Dem 1291

Labour 1257

Labour 1202

Conservative 259

Conservative 250

Green 246

Conservative 236

Green 181

The result is the first time Haverstock has elected an all-Lib Dem team. Jill Fraser first won a seat in Haverstock in the February 2004 by-election, while Matt Sanders captured a second seat in a further by-election in early 2007. The two were later joined by Cllr Syed Hoque, who sadly died at the beginning of last month's election campaign.

The new member of the team is secondary school teacher Cllr Rahel Bokth, who went to school locally and lives in the ward.
